$1.25 billion could be spent on improving water supply and sewerage infrastructure in one state’s country towns.

That is the pledge that the NSW Coalition says it will honour if it wins the election on March 28.

The promise is not all that it seems, because the LNP has guaranteed $239 million to improve country town water supply and sewerage infrastructure, regardless of the election result.

But it says that the state can expect an additional $980 million worth of projects if the LNP wins and succeeds in the sale of the state's electricity poles and wires.

One plan that would only happen if the Liberals win is for the building of a pipeline to supply water to Cobar in the state's west.

Cobar Mayor Lillian Grant has told the ABC she welcomes the news, but that the pipeline must be a priority.
