The Western Australian Government has pledged $78.2 million for a suite of projects over the coming four years under the auspices of Water Provision and Natural Resource Management (NRM).

Minister for Regional Development Brendon Grylls said the water and NRM initiatives would drive strategic regional development and future investment by capitalising on water availability to support agriculture, industry, mining, tourism and urban centres.

“This Royalties for Regions-funded initiative will contribute to the sustainability and prosperity of regional communities,” Mr Grylls said.

The projects include:

  • Regional water availability, planning and investigation $12.8m
  • Regional Economic Development - Water Opportunities $6.4m
  • Gascoyne Food Bowl and Flood Mitigation Strategy $45m
  • Regional Natural Resource Management $14m
