WaterNSW is restoring weirs in the Murrumbidgee and Murray Valleys.

Restoration work is scheduled for Berembed Weir, Stevens Weir, Maude Weir, Redbank Weir and Gogeldrie Weir to ensure essential water supply structures continue to meet contemporary standards.

Weirs will be closed during the work, which starts at the end of April 2019 and is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2020. Signage will be posted on site informing of closures.

This restoration program occurs every 20 years, but it has been brought forward while water levels are low to minimise the impacts of weir closures.

Scheduled work and closures are as follows:

Berembed Weir, on the Murrumbidgee River, will be closed from early May until August 2019. Water supply operations may be affected during this work and WaterNSW will advise customers prior to any outages.

Stevens Weir, near Deniliquin, will be closed from May 2019 until January 2020.

Redbank Weir will be closed from 29 April until November 2019. Water supply operations may be affected during this work and customers will be advised accordingly.

Maude Weir will be closed from November 2019 until mid-2020.

Gogeldrie Weir will be closed in 2020, but access to the weir via the caravan park will remain unaffected.

There may be increased traffic movement and some localised noise impacts during the restoration work, but WaterNSW will regularly update community and key stakeholders to minimise any impacts or disruptions.

Construction hours are Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.
