About the role

We are looking for a water resources engineer with experience in flood modelling. Working with Rhelm, you would have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects, across a number of different regional areas.  We work on a variety of flood related projects across Australia, including flood modelling work, water quality and catchment management, policy related advice, community and stakeholder engagement, precinct planning and infrastructure technical review roles.  There would be opportunity to work across multiple disciplines as well as other regions as opportunities arise. 

We have an exciting range of projects that we are currently working on and numerous other upcoming opportunities, both Australia wide and internationally. We are looking for someone who has experience using TUFLOW,  but wider experience with other hydraulic, hydrological and GIS software would be ideal. We have offices in Sydney (Neutral Bay), Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide, with the role to be based in Newcastle or Sydney.  The role can be part time or full time depending on the candidate's availability.

The successful candidate will: 

• Be experienced in using TUFLOW with a minimum 3 years of 2D Flood Modelling experience
• Ensure that the delivery of tasks, including meeting budget, time-frame and quality targets, exceed client expectations
• Resolve technical issues, carrying out technical reviews of hydrological and hydraulic models and providing technical input into design reports
• Work in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
• Manage components of projects, taking responsibility for own resource and potentially resource allocation of others
• Support in preparation of project proposals
• Have excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ideally have experience in concept design for water resources

You will have demonstrated skills and experience in:

• Flood modelling (1D, 2D, combined 1D/2D)
• Experience with TUFLOW
• Experience with a GIS package such as QGIS, ArcGIS or Mapinfo
• Hydrologic analysis (e.g. RAFTS, URBS, RORB, WBNM, etc)
• Experience with other packages such as HECRAS, MIKE, Drains, etc would be an advantage
• Experience with 12d and civil design would be an advantage
