Your role
  
As the Environmental Manager, you will report directly to the Executive Manager Sustainability. This newly created role is pivotal to maintaining and enhancing the company’s environmental credentials, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong relationships with industry and community stakeholders. You will oversee environmental performance across 2,000 hectares of farmland, a wastewater treatment plant, two meat processing facilities, and a tannery.
  
Your duties will include,

  • Ensuring the company complies with all relevant environmental laws, regulations and standards.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the company’s environmental performance with respect to farming practices, water, energy use, soil health and waste management.
  • Preparing and submitting environmental reports to boards and regulators as required.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures and ensuring all staff are aware, trained and complying.
  • Leading and coordinating sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
  • Identifying opportunities for improving environmental performance across the entire business
  • Conducting audits and risk assessments and developing action plans for the business units.
  • Working closely with all key stakeholders to promote the company’s environmental objectives and progress.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for internal and external enquiries and concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate records and producing detailed environmental reports as required.

You
  
To be considered for this genuine career opportunity you will require,

  • A degree in or equivalent experience to a bachelor’s degree in environmental science.
  • A minimum of at least 5 years of experience in environmental management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and policy and procedure development.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulation and standards.
  • Solid analytical and project management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence managers and teams.
