What you’ll do:
- Conditioning and monitoring activities of external parties on WaterNSW managed lands to ensure activities are compliant with relevant Acts and Regulations including environmental & safety regulations and standards.
- Providing leadership and mentoring to a geographically dispersed team the to ensure the effective implementation of catchment protection programs.
- Providing expert advice to manage emerging contentious issues in relation to authorised & unauthorised access in Special Areas, including proactive engagement and consultation with key stakeholders.
- Leading the field implementation of regulations and compliance within the legislation available to WaterNSW for catchment and water quality protection in Special Areas.
- Coordinating a broad range of multi-year catchment and recreational management programs (CAPEX and OPEX) to ensure activities are delivered to best practice standards including compliance with all environmental, work health and safety and corporate requirements.
- Managing the program multi year budgets and expenditure for multiple programs and activities overseeing the development and implementation of project briefs, internal and external approvals, financial, contractual and project management documents.
- Providing key support during incidents (bushfire, floods, biosecurity incursion, public safety) including advice on risk mitigation and resource allocation.
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive operational experience in natural resource management – ideally in the development and management of land management / recreational area programs and management of authorised & unauthorised activities on public lands
- Leadership experience with ability to develop team work to continually improve operational performance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of land and/or recreational area management and detailed understanding of legislation (government policies relating to the delivery of land/ recreational management programs).
- Understanding and working knowledge of legislation relating to access and activities within Special Areas, Controlled Areas or similar
- Ability to carry out remote field work in all weather conditions, including frontline incident response, with work out of hours and in remote locations which may require overnight stays
- Current NSW Drivers License
