Central Coast Council is the third largest water utility (or water and sewage service) in NSW servicing 139,000 homes and businesses in a growing region.

As the Technical Officer Assets and Planning, you will be responsible for contributing to the effective planning and management of water and sewerage assets to the community through the quality assurance of site investigations, condition assessments and the collection of technical data.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Monitor and proactively manage safety, quality, environment and procurement risks associated with in field investigations, condition assessments and design activities
  • Perform site inspections while maintaining comprehensive site records
  • Operate, maintain and manage instrumentation for gathering data in the field including deployment, data retrieval/presentation and ongoing calibration
  • Establish measurable performance outcomes for projects and define monitoring, reporting, safety and communication requirements
  • Provide Best Practice technical advice including constructability input during the review of engineering plans for the creation, modification or inspection of water and sewerage assets including pipelines, valve structures, reservoirs, treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Co-ordinate and oversee works relating to water and sewer assets in the field to ensure compliance with Council’s safety and asset quality standards
  • Provide professional technical advice to internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to the following elements:
    • Operation of Council’s water and wastewater systems
    • Job planning in relation to water and wastewater works
    • Shutdown planning associated with third party works
    • Construction and inspection techniques and safety

About you:

  • You will bring industry experience within Water and Wastewater 
  • You will may be qualified in Civil Construction Design, Project Management or related field
  • You are able to deliver expert technical advice to various stakeholders
  • You are capable of leading small teams
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also learning from others

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $82.9k to $99.5k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 11% superannuation. 

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200 per week ($10,450 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles. 

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
