Work Health & Safety Advisor

Huon is on the lookout for Work Health & Safety Advisors to join our Safety & Wellbeing team providing safety and wellbeing support to our Freshwater, Marine Operations, and Processing sites across Tasmania.

The role

Reporting to the Work Health & Safety Lead, the Work Health & Safety Advisor will play a key role in contributing to Huon’s Wellbeing and Safety performance. You will:

  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships at all levels across Huon, coaching Huon leaders and teams to anticipate, identify, and evaluate conditions and practices.
  • Drive a strong safety culture within Huon and give a dedicated presence onsite at all required locations.
  • Maintain effective communications across the organisation and ensure stakeholders are kept engaged with our WHS practices.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to ensure effective risk management and promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.
  • Assist site leaders and teams facilitating safety assessments and review and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for stakeholder groups.
  • Bring a proactive approach, contributing to the review and development of Huon’s WHS procedures and processes.

To support the safety and wellbeing of our teams, Work Health & Safety Advisors regularly travel around our beautiful state visiting our sites spanning the North-West, North-East, and across the Southern region.

About you

We are looking for a passionate and pragmatic Work Health & Safety professionals who are hands on and passionate about coaching others on best practice safety methodology. You will:

  • Hold a tertiary WHS qualification and relevant experience in an operational WHS position.
  • Proven experience managing safety concerns and undertake the appropriate actions to minimise risks promoting safety excellence.
  • Be a strong communicator who builds robust and effective rapport with stakeholders that allows you to influence, coach, and partner with others.
  • Think critically and evaluate probable outcomes to anticipate and proactively manage safety matters.
  • Hold an unrestricted and current driver’s licence and are willing to travel to sites.
